Travel: Why50

Who names their coffee shop with a question mark? Why50 does. I’m sure they got asked this question a million times, what is Why50?

The baristas was gathering one time and deciding the name of the new coffee shop. Out of boredom they did not just measure the dosage, they counted the number of beans. Eventually they found out their espresso shot always consists of 50 coffee beans, and here go the name.

Why50 uses a pure white Slayer Espresso Machine. The espresso beans are roasted locally by Blooom Coffee Roaster. Apart from the espresso grinds they still use single origin beans from around the world. They can be seasonal, and depending on what they can get. Afterall Hong Kong is a perfect place for imported beans from around the world. We get to try 49^thparallel from Canada, The Barn from Berlin,these are nice international selection.

Apart from coffee, Why50 is a pretty cool spot for brunch. Mr.Cubano sandwich consists of pulled pork, ham and cheese. Avocado Salsa Tartine with house mango, avocado puree with smoked salmon toast. Our favourite is the “Char Siu” sandwich with fried egg. These are excellent hangover bite.

Why50 wants to create a platform bridging Baristas and Artists. They often organise latte art champions and are very active in the industry. Photography show, grafitti wall take part occassionally.
